a . n e w . b e g g i n i n g

well. . .has it been 6 years already. It doesn't feel like all that time has passed to me. Maybe because life has been happening quickly to me. I miss the good old days when I used to just read and review. When this book community WAS my entire world. I miss it but that time has passed.

I decided to try blogging again. I know I've said that before but so far this year I've been very productive. I've been excersing, eating healthy, working on my designs on redbubble, I've begun to write again and have an idea for a business I want to try and see through. So I feel like coming back to my blog this time around I will be able to keep it up and not give up so easily. Plus I like this long form way of recording my life and the stages I go through.

I want to share so much with you all here. I don't know if I'll post book reviews, but I might if I really liked a book and think everyone should know about it. That feeling has never changed. I will just keep this as my personal space on the internet. My hope is that I can have you all here with me again. It's going to be interesting writing as my way older self. Seeing how my life changes in the next few years reaching 30.

making my comeback

Hey there! It's been so long since I've connected with you all through blogger and I'm slowly re-learning all the code I haven't used in so long. I haven't been off the grid exactly but I have tried to get my life back together. I kept posting on Instagram for a while after I stopped posting on here. Then I stopped posting on that platform too. Again I was doing it for the followers and not because I truly enjoyed it.

I have picked up a lot of new skills since my time on this blog and I'm hoping to share it with you all. I'm going to be re-starting my blog but the focus will no longer be books, instead it will be more focused on my life, my designs, and my travels. Really just a place where I can show off my work and all the things I love.

As of writing this I have no "official" job. For the past four years I have been a secretary/personal assistant in a law office. I loved having a steady job but unfortunately I hated working with a careless and toxic environment. While working there I also realized I have a lot of skills and knowledge people would pay for. I've never been one to back down from a challenge and even though no one wants to be unemployed, I see it as a blessing. With the time I'll have I'll be able to concentrate on what I truly love and not just work to get by. As well as rebuilding my mental and physical health that I completely ignored. I have a lot of passions and interests but as we all know life can suck the energy right out of us and I never really had time for all the things I loved.

I used to design blogs for free back in the day. I was terrible at designing but I still did as much as I could with my limited skills to help other bloggers. Through the trust and opportunities others gave me, I met so many amazing people and blogs that helped me grow my skills immensely. I'm thankful to them for giving me the opportunity because thanks to them, I started a tiny design business called Razzled Star Designs. I closed it down in 2014 because I started working full time but I missed it. I haven't stopped designing sites, I've actually re-branded this blog multiple times in the last 3 years with the intent of re-starting it but work kept getting in my way.

Hopefully this is my last re-branding for this blog. I'm going to be providing you all with tips I've learned from blogging so far. I'm no expert but I know that any great tips are helpful when blogging. I'm also setting up an official business to provide my design services. ALSO I am not going to do giveaways like I used to, instead I am going to pick a comment every month from all my posts here on the blog and on my Instagram, so follow me, and give people some personalized blog/Instagram/Twitter/YouTube/Facebook reviews & tips to improve.

So don't be shy! Drop me a comment, I would love to hear your thoughts on my re-design, the new name, or even a simple hi! And if you can spread the word that I'm back. I hope you all join me on this new journey life has put on for me. See in the next one!

announcement for 2018

hello

it's been so long since I've actually sat and written a post on blogger. It's kinda hard sitting down to write but I'm glad to come back to this blog. In the time i've been away I've been enjoying and suffering through life. I've gotten down deep into Kpop and I've been working on my music too. I also got a job that takes up all my time and leaves me dead tired at night X_X i also moved states and my grandmother passed away. So i've been away.

changes

For this next chapter of my life, I want to do something I enjoyed and that was blogging. I am still an avid reader but now I am more into adult romance. I haven't read any YA book in 2 years, not because I don't like the stories but because I've grown and I want an ending that has a more forever ending.

As I was saying, I'm coming back but I'm not going to talk books. I'm going to be concentrating on more of my other loves like traveling, music, and family. A just ME kinda blog. I'll be reviewing hotels and places and things instead of just books.

I also finally changed my blog name and url, which I hadn't changed since I created this blog back in 2012. So this is a huge step. I'll always have a spot in my heart for Read-A-holicZ but it's been long enough to know it needed to change T_T

new name

I decided to rename the blog "SEOULLI.LIFE" since I'll be traveling and living my life from now on with my love of kpop. To be honest with you all, I was depressed for almost 4 years after high school. I didn't accept that I was depressed but I knew the feelings. I stayed up many nights just crying and hating myself but around 2 years ago I went to Guatemala and saw my grandmother alive for the last time. That really made me think about the time I had left on this earth. She told me to "be someone and make something with my life" since you never know what life will throw at you. Since that trip I've been more present and I started reading for enjoyment again. I started my poetry. I immersed myself in music and started to live. Now I want to take on the world and explore and reach my dreams.

I've got to fix things up on the blog but hopefully I can get it done soon and get back to posting regularly. First few things will be Kpop related, just wanted to warn you all in advance since I know a lot of you followed me for my book reviews. I hope you will still stay with me, I honestly love you all and want to explore the world with you all too!

i'm happy to be coming back

4th Blogoversary...Hi there

WOW, it's the 4th anniversary of my blog. I can't believe that back in 2012 I decided to enter the crazy online world. So much has changed since then. I've changed so much in that time. I feel it's time to get to my second love, writing. I have been neglecting this blog too much and I feel like I lost myself, hence the wandering part in the blog title.

I thought about changing my blog name several times after my 1st blogoversary and changing what this blog was about. Of course i still want to share my ideas on books, but I also want to chronicle my life, lay down some feelings, and generally let myself have a place online I can let it all go. So I finally decided to make Read-A-holicZ into Wandering Bookaholis. (O.0)

The name is a combo of many things. The Wandering part because I love to travel, take pictures, and write. The Bookaholis, comes from my Instagram name, which after learning about #bookstagram, I wanted to keep and connect to this blog. So I won't be posting about books 100% of the time, just about 80%.

I am also making a new place to share more fangirliness with you all. Some back story though, I created a monthly book subscription box, around 7 months ago, called LOVINGLY BOOKISH. It was stressful and crazy! I loved doing it though, and seeing all the happy comments people shared. I unfortunately had to close it down about a month ago. My health had deteriorated SO MUCH. I was continually fatigued, had 2 major surgeries, and I was overall sick.

It's been a month now and I'm feeling better, not great but better. I'm going to come back this year and have this blog be more about me. This coming week, I will be sharing some awesome news with you all and I hope you will join me in celebrating 4 YEARS OF BLOGGING! So in the meantime, you can enjoy this awesome video of K-Pop stars pronouncing Western names :)

until next time, stay bookish - xoxo lizzy

Titans by Victoria Scott [Sneak Peek + International Giveaway - ENDS 12/14]

I am so glad I am part of this street team and family because I get to spread the word about the upcoming release of the awesome Victoria Scott. Which is why today I am back here! So lets jump right in :D

Title: TITANS
Author: Victoria Scott
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Publication date: February 23rd, 2016
Pages: 320
Pre-order:
GOODREADS // AMAZON // B&N // THE BOOK DEPOSITORY
From Victoria Scott, author of FIRE & FLOOD, comes a thrilling story of impossible odds.

Ever since the Titans first appeared in her Detroit neighborhood, Astrid Sullivan’s world has revolved around the mechanical horses. She and her best friend have spent countless hours watching them and their jockeys practice on the track. It’s not just the thrill of the race. It’s the engineering of the horses and the way they’re programmed to seem so lifelike. The Titans are everything that fascinates Astrid, and nothing she’ll ever touch.

She hates them a little, too. Her dad lost everything betting on the Titans. And the races are a reminder of the gap between the rich jockeys who can afford the expensive machines to ride, and the working class friends and neighbors of Astrid’s who wager on them.

But when Astrid’s offered a chance to enter an early model Titan in this year’s derby, well, she decides to risk it all. Because for a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, it’s more than a chance at fame or money. Betting on herself is the only way she can see to hang on to everyone in the world she cares about.

Victoria Scott is the author of TITANS (Spring 2016), VIOLET GRENADE (Summer 2017), the FIRE & FLOOD duology, and the DANTE WALKER trilogy. She is published by Scholastic and Entangled Teen, and is represented by Sara Crowe.

Two of her novels, SALT & STONE and TITANS, have received starred review, and FIRE & FLOOD was nominated as a YALSA Teens' Top 10 book, and was a Silver Falchion Award nominee. Victoria's novels have been bought and translated in eleven foreign markets.

The author lives in Dallas, and loves hearing from readers.

Below is a snippet of the Titan Enquirer, a gossip paper featured in Titans. The paper is printed year round in Detroit, but the news, and gossip, really heats up during the Titans racing season (June - August). This article is from this year's races (not the year Astrid competes), and talks about a jockey being injured on the tracks--something that happens frequently, unfortunately.

Blog Tour: The Libby Garrett Intervention by Kelly Oram [REVIEW // GIVEAWAY]

Hi everyone, hope your all doing well, I am so excited to share with you this AMAZING BOOK! Keep on reading, leave me some comments (it makes me smile), and enter the giveaway! Tour hosted by YA Bound.

Title: The Libby Garrett Intervention
Author: Kelly Oram
Publisher: Bluefields Publishing
Publication date: October 24th, 2015
Pages: 244
Series: Science Squad #2
GOODREADS // AMAZON // B&N // KOBO
Libby Garrett is addicted to Owen Jackson's hot lovin'. But the sexy, popular college basketball player doesn't appreciate all of Libby's awesomeness. He refuses to be exclusive or even admit to people that they're dating. The relationship is ruining Libby and she's the only one who can't see it.

When Libby's behavior spirals completely out of control, her best friend Avery Shaw and the rest of the Science Squad stage an intervention hoping to cure Libby of her harmful Owen addiction. They put her through her very own Twelve Step program—Owen's Anonymous—and recruit the help of a sexy, broody, hard as nails coffee man to be her official sponsor...

Adam Koepp has watched Libby Garrett for years. How could he not notice the sassy girl with the purple skateboard and helmet plastered with cat stickers? But in all the years he's crushed on her, Libby has failed to take notice of him. Why would she when he was just a nobody high school drop out who served her apple cider several times a week? Especially when she was hooking up with a guy like Owen Jackson—a guy with a college scholarship and more abs than Kyle Hamilton.

Adam finally gets the chance to meet Libby when his co-worker Avery Shaw recruits him to take Libby on the journey of a lifetime. With his ability to play Bad Cop and his experience with the Twelve Step program he's the perfect candidate to be Libby's sponsor. But will he be able to keep his personal feelings out of the matter and really help her the way she needs? And will Libby hate him when he forces her to take an honest look at herself?

This follow-up companion novel to The Avery Shaw Experiment can be read as a stand alone. (But where's the fun in that?)

In one sentence: A seriously impressive, swoon-y, addicting, and fresh contemporary YA novel.

Long Version: Since this is an ARC, I'll keep it spoiler free. As someone who rarely reads contemporary ya/na books, this book was was overall amazing, with the exception of one minor thing at the start of the book. Going into the book I was pretty unsure of what I would find. The story sounded interesting and the main character was on the plus side.

Out of the many things I liked, one of the things i loved about this book was that i could relate to Libby and Adam. There stories are so different and yet they really do understand and support each other. Libby is dealing with getting over a guy that only liked her physically and Adam has been through a lot of hard sh*t in his young life. Adam was tough on Libby and was 100% honest with her and yes he came off as a jerk but he was just intense because he cared for Libby, a lot. Libby kinda frustrated me at the start of the novel because she couldn't see how Owen, her college boyfriend, was using her. At points she knew he was treating her bad but she made excuses, and I felt just as angry and upset as Adam. There romance was well done too, it wasn't insta-love and it just felt right. They had there intense moments and their sweet.

Another aspect I love were the supporting characters. I haven't read the first book but I might give it a go because all of Libby's friends on the Science Squad seemed so chill and friendly. They were witty, awkward, and nerdy. They were also brutally honest with Libby and were super concerned with her changes and life choices. As true friends should. Also Libby's parents were the coolest. They were supportive of there daughter and her dad was a pro skier, extremely cool ;)

My number ONE MOST FAVORITE PART OF THIS BOOK WAS ADAM! Seriously where can i find him. He has become one of my favorite characters. Even though he was tough with Libby, he was sweet, understanding, broody, wise, and witty. Since it was in a dual POV, I got to read what was going through his head and I fell REALLY HARD for him. He went through so much but was a responsible, mature, and caring person. He was a true gentleman and ARG!!!! I loved him. It definitely helped that he had tattoos, piercings, and was a skater. No matter what happened he would always be there, really wish Adam was real because I didn't want to finish reading about him. He gave this book a lot of depth and awww filled moments.

Almost to the end there was a scene that quite literally broke my heart, I was where Adam was once and it broke my heart too. I can't say more than that because it would spoil it, but be warned the climax at the end really got to me. I seriously don't know how I made it out of this book in one piece but I did and the aftermath was so well written and every scene was emotion and feels.

In the end, the story Kelly Oram wrote has been one of my favorites. The subject matter is more on the New Adult side but the emotions and relationships are definitely more innocent and relate-able. The characters were all enjoyable and interesting. This is a great book to pick up if you want a good dose of a swoon. 4.5/5 stars!

Song that I heard and best matches the book:

Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen–a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which family and friends still tease her.

She's obsessed with reading, talks way too much, and loves to eat frosting by the spoonful.

She lives outside of Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and four children.

Thea, Freddy, Nan, and Sigi are caught in the crossfire, taking refuge with a vibrant, young revolutionary and a mysterious healer from Irminau.

This action-packed sequel to Dark Metropolis weaves political intrigue, haunting magic, and heartbreaking romance into an unforgettable narrative. Dolamore's lyrical writing and masterfully crafted plot deliver a powerful conclusion

EXCERPT:

Ingrid bent over and rummaged around on the floor. When she came back up, she had Thea’s book of fairy tales. “I saw this poking out of your bag. Running away with clothes and lipstick and a book of Irminauer tales?” She smiled a little. Her teeth were neat and straight.

“Father Gruneman gave it to me when I was little,” Thea said. “At my father’s memorial.” She thought Ingrid might know Father Gruneman, since he’d been a revolutionary leader.

“Father Gruneman must have understood that the forest always calls us home, even here in the city,” Ingrid said, putting the book in front of Thea and opening it to an image of a girl in beautiful stylized robes plucking a mushroom from the forest floor. “The pictures are lovely.”

Thea glanced at her uncertainly. She was still holding Thea’s wounded hand, her touch featherlight but never breaking contact. “Are you going to heal my hand?”

“Yes, of course I am. But it might hurt a lot, just for a moment. Have some more medicine”—Ingrid poured from a bottle on the nightstand—“and look at your beautiful book.”

Thea took the medicine. “It’ll be all right, though?” she asked. The medicine had deadened some of her fear, but in the back of her mind she thought that if she lost the use of some of her fingers, she wouldn’t be able to work many places anymore.

“It will be fine very soon.” Her voice was even, soothing. Thea heard the actual words less and the rhythm more. The words were like water running over rocks, constant and sweet, and she closed her eyes.

“Your voice is like a song,” Thea said. “My mother used to sing to me when I was sick.” Mother sang all the time, before her sickness. Sometimes it was annoying, Mother throwing open the curtains and waking her up for school singing. But other times it was nice. She wished Mother were here now.

“I could give you a song,” Ingrid asked. “It will help.”

“Okay.”

Ingrid began to chant—it was more like a chant than a song—long, beautiful tones. The music seemed to spin its way into the picture of the girl in the forest, so the colors grew brighter and Thea could almost smell moss and earth. Ingrid’s hand upon her arm was like a thread to another world, not unlike that fairy-tale forest that was a little bit frightening but also full of wonder. Anything could happen. The chant filled her with a sense of Ingrid’s power.

Thea felt something bite her wrist, heard a grinding, and her eyes snapped away from the book.

Ingrid held a bone saw in one hand, driving the blade just above Thea’s wrist with long, slow strokes. The saw was bright with Thea’s blood, but Ingrid had put cloths down so none would drip onto the bedspread or the carpet. Thea saw this through a haze of soothing tones and visions. She tried to say something, but her body was too dulled to speak or move. Ingrid’s eyes were half-closed, almost dreamy, as her lips moved with her strange song, but when she saw Thea looking, her note trailed off.

“I’m sorry if it still hurts a little.” Ingrid’s words retained their rhythm. “I didn’t think I’d be giving this gift to you. But one must trust in fate.”

Jaclyn Dolamore was homeschooled in a hippie sort of way and spent her childhood reading as many books as her skinny nerd-body could lug from the library and playing elaborate pretend games with her sister Kate.

She skipped college and spent eight years drudging through retail jobs, developing her thrifty cooking skills and pursuing a lifelong writing dream. She has a passion for history, thrift stores, vintage dresses, David Bowie, drawing, and organic food.

She lives with her partner and plot-sounding-board, Dade, and two black tabbies who have ruined her carpeting.
