My Review:

Okay so obviously I am not a middle grade reader since I'm *cough, 19, cough* but i can still enjoy a middle grade once in a while. I was really interested in reading how this book would incorporate the religious morals & teachings in a MG book with paranormal aspects and action. And overall I was pretty impressed.

One of the things i liked about Spirit Fighter was that the reader wasn't too heavily overloaded with scripture and it didn't bore me (sorry but i don't normal read much christian fiction) but i really liked how the author incorporated it nicely into the story and I was like "oh I've heard this" and "ah, now i see!" so it really didn't detract from the appeal of reading. SO READ IT! :P

Something pretty interesting about the story was the POV. It was like first person-omniscient. Kind of weird but not really, it let you see the story through the other characters POV's and they flowed from one to the other quite naturally. ^_^

I have to say, i LOVED the characters in this book. The kids were kind of mature for there age but they were still kids who had fun and dealt with normal kid stuff, like bullies. I liked Jonah, he was strong, determined, and clever. Eliza I REALLY liked because 1)she is smart 2)she can produce a shield of faith (pretty awesome, actually). One of the characters that i loved meeting was Henry. He's Jonah's & Eliza's "guardian angel" and i liked that he was wise but was still able to connect with the kids. Also gotta note that there parents are really sweet & affectionate but good role models :)

The story is actually VERY action packed and a lot of creepy and awesome things happened. The kids go on a chase to find there mom and on the way they discover there powers that as quarterlings (quarter angels) they have. Like super strength, spirit shields, and other cool stuff. I also liked that the kids kept there faith and believed; which let them see this "spiritual" world humans don't see. There were also fights with a GIANT SEA monster, some fallen angels, and a creepy old lady O_O

Overall, this was a GREAT Middle Grade read! Filled with action, fights, and faith. It made me feel like i was back in the 7th grade and how people can go from "ordinary" to "extraordinary". For what the book promised it did deliver. I am really looking forward to continuing in book #2. 4/5 AMAZING STARS!

This was a GREAT book, it exploded at times but was missing that something that made it Ah-ma-zing!
