A world battered by climate shift and war turns to an ancient method of keeping peace: the exchange of hostages. The Children of Peace - sons and daughters of kings and presidents and generals - are raised together in small, isolated schools called Prefectures. There, they learn history and political theory, and are taught to gracefully accept what may well be their fate: to die if their countries declare war.

Greta Gustafsen Stuart, Duchess of Halifax and Crown Princess of the Pan-Polar Confederation, is the pride of the North American Prefecture. Learned and disciplined, Greta is proud of her role in keeping the global peace — even though, with her country controlling two-thirds of the world’s most war-worthy resource — water — she has little chance of reaching adulthood alive.

Enter Elián Palnik, the Prefecture’s newest hostage and biggest problem. Greta’s world begins to tilt the moment she sees Elián dragged into the school in chains. The Prefecture’s insidious surveillance, its small punishments and rewards, can make no dent in Elián, who is not interested in dignity and tradition, and doesn’t even accept the right of the UN to keep hostages.

What will happen to Elián and Greta as their two nations inch closer to war?

Woah, this book sounds so crazy! I mean, keeping the peace by having hostages...that is a scary world. Then if there's a war, you kill them... What really hooked though, was the part where it says they dragged Elián to school in chains O.O On top of that he sounds like the more sane one in that place because who would actually agrees to this crazy system of peace. Any who, I am still crazy to read it and will be looking forward to it in September!

They exist in two different centuries, but their love defies time

Cassandra craves drama and adventure, so the last thing she wants is to spend her summer marooned with her mother and stepfather in a snooty Massachusetts shore town.

But when a dreamy stranger shows up on their private beach claiming it's his own—and that the year is 1925—she is swept into a mystery a hundred years in the making.

As she searches for answers in the present, Cassandra discovers a truth that puts their growing love—and Lawrence's life—into jeopardy. Desperate to save him, Cassandra must find a way to change history…or risk losing Lawrence forever.

I love a good time travel story, especially when someone from the past comes to our century. I like reading how they see our world of modern marvels. The last time travel book I read was Alexandra Monirs TIMELESS series, which I LOVED. My favorite era are the 20's so I'm excited to read this!

Maggie Sanders might be blind, but she won't invite anyone to her pity party. Ever since losing her sight six months ago, Maggie's rebellious streak has taken on a life of its own, culminating with an elaborate school prank. Maggie called it genius. The judge called it illegal.

Now Maggie has a probation officer. But she isn't interested in rehabilitation, not when she's still mourning the loss of her professional-soccer dreams, and furious at her so-called friends, who lost interest in her as soon as she could no longer lead the team to victory.

Then Maggie's whole world is turned upside down. Somehow, incredibly, she can see again. But only one person: Ben, a precocious ten-year-old unlike anyone she's ever met. Ben's life isn't easy, but he doesn't see limits, only possibilities. After awhile, Maggie starts to realize that losing her sight doesn't have to mean losing everything she dreamed of. Even if what she's currently dreaming of is Mason Milton, the infuriatingly attractive lead singer of Maggie's new favorite band, who just happens to be Ben's brother.

But when she learns the real reason she can see Ben, Maggie must find the courage to face a once-unimaginable future...before she loses everything she has grown to love.

WOW, can I just say that by the time I was at the part with Ben in the summary, a tear escaped me. I don't know why it just did. I don't read books like this often because I tend to get emotional but I really want to read this one because there's some light in the darkness for Maggie. Really excited for this and I like the addition of Mason too ;) I just know I'm gonna get some feels reading this when it comes out.

Emmy’s best friend, Oliver, reappears after being kidnapped by his father ten years ago. Emmy hopes to pick up their relationship right where it left off. Are they destined to be together? Or has fate irreparably driven them apart?

Emmy just wants to be in charge of her own life. She wants to stay out late, surf her favorite beach—go anywhere without her parents’ relentless worrying. But Emmy’s parents can’t seem to let her grow up—not since the day Oliver disappeared.

Oliver needs a moment to figure out his heart. He’d thought, all these years, that his dad was the good guy. He never knew that it was his father who kidnapped him and kept him on the run. Discovering it, and finding himself returned to his old hometown, all at once, has his heart racing and his thoughts swirling.

Emmy and Oliver were going to be best friends forever, or maybe even more, before their futures were ripped apart. In Emmy’s soul, despite the space and time between them, their connection has never been severed. But is their story still written in the stars? Or are their hearts like the pieces of two different puzzles—impossible to fit together?

Readers who love Sarah Dessen will tear through these pages with hearts in throats as Emmy and Oliver struggle to face the messy, confusing consequences of Oliver’s father’s crime. Full of romance, coming-of-age emotion, and heartache, these two equally compelling characters create an unforgettable story.

This sounds like an emotional roller coaster, I cant wait to read it! This sounds to me like a YA contemporary drama which sounds super fun and heart achingly good for the summer. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this one on Goodreads because I'm so excited to get my hands on it soon!

Rainbow Rowell continues to break boundaries with Carry On, an epic fantasy following the triumphs and heartaches of Simon and Baz from her beloved bestseller Fangirl.

Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe.

Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.

Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters.

WHY I'M WAITING...

Truth time ya'll, while I might be absolutely fangirling (no pun intended) over Rainbow Rowells new book 'Carry On', It's a cold hard and horrible fact that I have not yet read Fangirl. *Ducks away from rotting tomatos*

Let me explain! I'm excited not because I have read the book but because Ms. Rainbow Rowell is the queen of books and everything that is lovely in this bookish world. Either way I will be reading Fangirl soon, so I might rejoice even more with you guys!

A romantic comedy about high school, heartbreak, and having all the answers.

What if the secrets of dating and love were revealed in one simple formula? That's the tantalizing proposition high school senior Shane Chambliss offers the hopeless and hapless guys who come to him for relationship advice.

After the girl of his dreams breaks his heart, Shane devises a mysterious formula called the Galgorithm and establishes himself as the resident dating guru at Kingsview High School. But his attempts to master the art of romance go outrageously awry.

WHY I'M WAITING...

I want to read this just to know the formula Shane makes for love and dating. Never been good at either of those, so maybe I can learn something. I never pictured math as part of romance, more science, but really excited to read this crazy love story. Plus the cover is simply genius ;)

In the tradition of Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic, one girl chooses to change her fortune and her fate by falling in love.

Love is real in the town of Grimbaud, and Fallon Dupree has dreamed of attending high school there for years. After all, generations of Duprees have successfully followed the (100% accurate!) love fortunes from Zita’s famous Love Charms Shop to happily marry their high school sweethearts. It’s a tradition. So she is both stunned and devastated when her fortune states that she will NEVER find love.

Fortunately, Fallon isn’t the only student with a terrible love fortune, and a rebellion is brewing. Fallon is determined to take control of her own fate—even if it means working with a notorious heartbreaker like Sebastian.

Will Fallon and Sebastian be able to overthrow Zita’s tyranny and fall in love?

WHY I'M WAITING...

"What if you were fated to Never fall in love?" Oh can I relate! Jeesh, am I forever fated to fall in love with fictional characters?? AM I??

I just reread that. I come off as really passive aggressive in most post, but I promise I'm not. I promise. ANYWAY! The book. The reason I even clicked on it was because of the oh so pretty cover and was surprised to find a really cool concept in the synopsis! Maybe judging a book by it's cover isn't so bad! I definitely found another addition to my May TBR, and hopefully another fictional boyfriend ;) How about ya'll?

Once upon a time, two best friends created a princess together. Libby drew the pictures, May wrote the tales, and their heroine, Princess X, slayed all the dragons and scaled all the mountains their imaginations could conjure.

Once upon a few years later, Libby was in the car with her mom, driving across the Ballard Bridge on a rainy night. When the car went over the side, Libby passed away, and Princess X died with her.

Once upon a now: May is sixteen and lonely, wandering the streets of Seattle, when she sees a sticker slapped in a corner window.

Princess X?

When May looks around, she sees the Princess everywhere: Stickers. Patches. Graffiti. There's an entire underground culture, focused around a webcomic at IAmPrincessX.com. The more May explores the webcomic, the more she sees disturbing similarities between Libby's story and Princess X online. And that means that only one person could have started this phenomenon - her best friend, Libby, who lives.

WHY I'M WAITING...

I'm going to be honest, I rarely read any BFF YA stories, but maybe it's that cover because I'm actually excited for this one. There is a whole mystery that I want to solve and especially if it deals with comics. Seriously want to delve into this story when it comes out, plus see all the beautiful pictures.

Series: The Girl at Midnight #1
ADD IT ON GOODREADS!
For readers of Cassandra Clare's City of Bones and Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone, The Girl at Midnight is the story of a modern girl caught in an ancient war.

Beneath the streets of New York City live the Avicen, an ancient race of people with feathers for hair and magic running through their veins. Age-old enchantments keep them hidden from humans. All but one. Echo is a runaway pickpocket who survives by selling stolen treasures on the black market, and the Avicen are the only family she's ever known.

Echo is clever and daring, and at times she can be brash, but above all else she's fiercely loyal. So when a centuries-old war crests on the borders of her home, she decides it's time to act.

Legend has it that there is a way to end the conflict once and for all: find the Firebird, a mythical entity believed to possess power the likes of which the world has never seen. It will be no easy task, but if life as a thief has taught Echo anything, it's how to hunt down what she wants . . . and how to take it.

But some jobs aren't as straightforward as they seem. And this one might just set the world on fire.

WHY I'M WAITING...

UHM. YES PLEASE. With the release date so close at hand (and in my birthday month), I had to have this book on my Waiting on Wednesday post. The idea behind this YA dystopian book series is captivating, and I really have high hopes for this!

I'm at that point of excitement where i'm already dream casting the characters (It's sad, I know). BTW, I'm not sure if it's just me, but can you see Cameron Bicondova from Gotham as Echo? I know, I know, I'm lamely drawing comparisons of the characters characteristics from the summary but It just clicks in my mind so perfectly. So that's my Wednesday post, is The Girl at Midnight in your TBR pile?

Asylum meets Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, in this riveting tale of ghosts, secrets, and family, from master of suspense Katie Alender.

Delia's new house isn't just a house. It used to be an insane asylum, a place to lock up "troubled" young women long ago. And a restless, wicked spirit is still at play--and it doesn't want defiant girls like Delia to go anywhere.

So the house kills her.

Now Delia is a ghost, trapped in her creepy home forever. Delia also realizes that her alive and grieving sister might be the house's next target.

Can Delia unlock the mystery of the old asylum, save her sister, and free herself?

WHY I'M WAITING...

I rarely pick up books about ghosts but Katie Alender is one the few writers who makes fresh and interesting ghost stories. I LOVE that cover it's both creepy, elegant, and eerie. When I was reading in the synopsis and got to the part, "SO THE HOUSE KILLS HER" I was like WHAT?! I like that she's now a ghost and trying to save her sister of the same fate. Really want to see how that plays out :D
